Shiki uses only a handful of both, and this page lists every one: what it does, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind. Strictly necessary
These make features you've asked for work — like remembering the choices you make on this site (and, once account sign-in launches, keeping you signed in). They aren't used for tracking, and they don't need consent.

Analytics (optional)
With your consent, Google Analytics 4 sets cookies so we can see, in aggregate, which guides are useful. Declining them changes nothing about how the site works.

How consent works here: if you're visiting from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, analytics stays off until you accept it in the banner. Elsewhere, the banner still lets you opt out, and your choice is remembered. To determine which rules apply, we make a one-off lookup of your approximate location via GeoJS when you first visit — nothing about it is stored beyond your consent choice.
Advertising
We do not currently show ads, so no advertising cookies are set. Some articles link to Klook as an affiliate; those links are marked and disclosed, and they set no cookies here.

You can also block or delete cookies (and local storage) entirely in your browser's settings — the site keeps working, though you'd be signed out — or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on to block analytics on every site.
